The Retreat

[edit]

Thank you for your amendment to the article on The Retreat. I had a look at your website and have to disagee with your view that Humanism. The Humanists arose during the Renaissance and were Christian.

Will here be a WP article on Conservative Humanism soon? The discussion page would no doubt be interesting!

Vernon White 07:23, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Thank you Vernon for the comment, but not all humanists were Christrains in the Renaissance.

Notability of Robert J Havighurst

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Robert J Havighurst, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Deranged bulbasaur 05:12, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with this assessment. I have expanded the article using 2 reliable references. Havighurst is a member of an international hall of fame, and his notability has been asserted in the article. Royalbroil T : C 05:55, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You should add references that you used to write the article. You can use the referencing system that I started on the article. Contact me if you need help with adding the references. The article would also be more complete if you listed the ISBN numbers of his books. These minor additions would make the article much better. I was patrolling the new pages, and his birthplace of DePere caught my eye (as I live in the region of that state). Nice article! Royalbroil T : C 19:19, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your support. The person who objected really just shows their ignorance. "If I don't know about it it should be delected" mentality. --Dane Sorensen (talk) 15:31, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Memorial-3.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 19:49, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Hollie Steel

[edit]

I have nominated Hollie Steel, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hollie Steel. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Otterathome (talk) 17:02, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Message from Dane Sorensen - I think you will find you are wrong to ask for a deletion. You do not understand how to write articles of big news in real time.
Arguing with editors here about deletion are a waste of time, especially since this editor probably does not have your page watched. Argue at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hollie Steel. Ikip (talk) 19:21, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is nice to see the system work. Those who jumped at deleting this article I started have been proven to be out of touch with social forces. No doubt they would have waited for the autopsy of Jacko before they would have even written an article that he died. Wikipedia does not have to be years, months, days or even hours behind the world. --Dane Sorensen (talk) 23:16, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you

[edit]

The article you created: Hollie Steel may be deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether the article you created should be deleted here:

The faster you respond on this page, the better chance the article you created can be saved.

Finding sources which mention the topic of the article you created is the very best way to avoid an article being deleted {{Findsources3}}:

Find sources for Hollie Steel: google news recent, google news old, google books, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.

Also, there are several tools and helpful editors on Wikipedia who can help you:

1. List the page on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
2. At any time, you can ask any administrator to move your article to a special page. (Called userfication)
3. You can request a mentor to help you: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
4. When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. These acronyms don't need to intimidate you. Here is a list of acronyms you can use yourself: Deletion debate acronyms, which will help you argue that the article should be kept.

If the page you created is deleted, you also have many options available. Good luck! Ikip (talk) 19:21, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There are some members of Wikipedia who think they are a god. They do not realize that importance is relative and that it should not be a crime to add new information to the Wiki in a fast manner. Wiki articles can be in real time and not have to wait 50 years before deciding something should be in Wikipedia.--Dane Sorensen (talk) 15:29, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trouble with Frank Baxter material

[edit]

I deleted a sentence, and a URL, that you added to the Frank C. Baxter article as the accompanying web site lacked supporting material. The Amazon reference does not indicate wide-spread sales of a product. Also, that same reference appears to mention only two of Baxter's shows directly. Is there another, and more detailed, source of information that can be cited? Astrochemist (talk) 02:20, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for the rewording. Today I added a title to the reference. -- You and I have made about 50% of the edits to Baxter's article. I don't have much more to contribute, if anything. Wish we could generate interest among others. - Astrochemist (talk) 20:55, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - I just love Frank Baxter. He made science real to me and I have been reading science articles ever since! --Dane Sorensen (talk) 23:19, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Kindly stop adding spam links and promotional content into this article. This is an encyclopaedia article, and if someone wants to book Hollie for something, they're going to have to find her management through other channels. Radiopathy •talk• 03:08, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that Hollie has a manager and that fact is noted in wikipedia is not a advertisment. It is just showing that Miss Hollie has taken steps to advance her career. I find you are over reacting and would love to have a senior editor rule on this. You remind me of the criticism I got when I started the wiki article on Hollie. I suggest you look at that and realize they were the one's who were being WikiZealots - as are you, sir. --Dane Sorensen (talk) 03:13, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that I helped with cleanup on the article when it was first nominated for deletion, and !voted for the article to be kept at the third deletion discussion. I'm not being a zealot here. Radiopathy •talk• 03:46, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I find it interesting on your personal page you claim to discuss first before deleting. I found you do the opposite. I have sought help in this matter of WikiZealotry. You seem to have a history of pissing other contributors off. --Dane Sorensen (talk) 03:49, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You'll find it very interesting that the person you "reported" me to !voted to delete in the same deletion discussion! Radiopathy •talk• 04:18, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and thanks for your contributions. Please note that we don't add links to commonly known terms, as you did in Tourette syndrome. Regards, Dabomb87 (talk) 18:47, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be possible that you have the original photograph you could use in the commons instead of this edited one (with the false sunset)? The image looks quite odd with the inconsistent shadowing angles as well as broken edges and tearing where the sunset meets the building. I figured I might ask considering you were the original contributor, thanks! -Bgmur (talk) 01:25, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
